What Is the Radbahn?
The concept of the Radbahn follows the approach of an urban development with bicycle infrastructure under and along the largely forgotten space of the listed elevated viaduct of Berlin's subway line 1.
Why "Letting Berlin Breathe Again"?
The Radbahn creates an urban open space. As a multicolored bicycle park, it offers a place to take a breath in the hustle and bustle of the city. Here, people have the chance to enjoy riding their bikes, take a walk or a rest and playfully engage with urban space. Along the Radbahn, people will feel a sense of deceleration and get through the city with joy.

When Will the Radbahn Be Built?
A 500-meter section of the Radbahn is expected to be ready for use in late summer 2022. Unfortunately, we cannot yet make a binding statement regarding the completion of the entire route, which will run from the Oberbaumbrücke in Kreuzburg to Bahnhof Zoo in Charlottenburg. The realization depends on planning and approval phases in the area of traffic and urban planning as well as on political will and can take a very long time.

What events are planned?
We regularly offer different discussion formats - digital and online, from individual consultation hours to open discussion rounds. Here we discuss the cycle track together. In addition, we will be on site a lot in 2022 and organize various activites under and along the viaduct.
Where Is the Test Site Located?
Between Kottbusser Tor and Görlitzer Bahnhof. You will be able to test and evaluate the Radbahn concept from late summer 2022.
What Is a Reallabor?
A Reallabor or ‘real-world lab’ describes a research method that involves practical tests of new, innovative ideas in public spaces.
Where Can I Have My Say?
For example, on the online participation platform mein.berlin: Starting in December 2021, we will show, discuss and document our participatory activities over the entire project period there. In addition, we offer the "Radbahn Talks" as an open discussion forum - every last Thursday of the month!
Who's Behind the Radbahn Idea?
The Radbahn project is the first of many projects brought to life by the non-profit organization paper planes e.V. The purpose of this organization is to research social and technological ideas that will lead to urban spaces which are more environmentally and human friendly and thus more livable.
There Is a Book about Radbahn?
In 2017 our book was published. We developed first recommendations on how the Radbahn can be implemented and gave answers to questions on the technicalities of traffic planning. Ever since, the Radbahn was no longer utopia but on the way to concrete planning.
